In March, she was the subject of a sudden surge in interest, after it was widely known that Schlapp was a potential candidate to replace Hope Hicks's position as director of communications. It hasn't been an easy fight. Schlapp allied with Tony Sayegh, who was a candidate. They started fighting in media. Schlapp claimed that after she was informed that when the Washington Examiner ran a story with negative remarks about Sayegh she had a discussion with Sayegh.
